What Happened to Africa’s Revolution­s?

In the Sixties and Seventies, the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam was a place of revolution­ary ferment, where ideas of a socialist, post-colonial African continent were widespread, prompting visits from Malcolm X, Che Guevara, the Black Panthers and Nelson Mandela. In this arresting documentar­y, Africa analyst Ben Shepherd travels to Tanzania and Uganda to examine the often-untold history of these left-wing liberation movements – and to see what kind of legacy they have left behind.
