Special incinerator used for Moors murderer’s cremation
Moors murderer Ian Brady was cremated in a special incinerator in the middle of the night over fears his ashes might “contaminate” others, it has been revealed.
The child killer, who used the name Ian Stewart-brady, died aged 79 on May 15 this year and was incinerated without ceremony. His remains were disposed of at sea on Oct 26.
The body was collected from the mortuary at Royal Liverpool hospital by a Tameside Council official at around 9pm on October 25, court documents show, before being taken under police escort to Southport Crematorium, where the cremation began at 10pm exactly. No music or flowers were allowed. The crematorium’s standby cremator was later professionally cleaned.
