Supermarket grapes: seedless but tasteless

-

sir – I could not agree more that all one seems to find in supermarkets nowadays is tasteless, seedless grapes (Letters, October 27).

I recall an interview on the radio in which a supermarket said its customers preferred seedless grapes, so it only sold that type.

I remember varieties such as the South African Waltham Cross, with its large flavourful white grapes, and the Belgian Colmar hothouse, with berries the size of plums.

Obviously someone in a supermarket decided that I did not like these varieties as they had pips. Good to know that someone is looking after my interests.
