Not my bag

SIR – Not carrying a handbag (report, November 2) is a power move for me.

I am not an A-list celebrity and I do not have a personal assistant to follow me around, but as I am getting older I like to have my hands free when shopping. I don’t want to have to fiddle in a bag for credit cards or coins.

A jacket with a pocket suffices for all that is required. Pauline Barnett
