Care home resident ‘stuck in bed for a year’

-

An elderly resident was stuck in bed for more than a year at a failing care home, Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors found.

When they inspected Doddington Lodge in Worcestershire in Sept, the CQC found that the patient had “remained in their bed for over 12 months” and “had not mobilised since August 2016”, despite having previously had deep-vein thrombosis.

The home was placed in special measures and has reportedly since shut. It was found to be inadequate in four out of five areas, falling short of safety, efficacy, responsiveness and being “well led”.
