Madeleine detectives take search to Bulgaria

DETECTIVES hunting for Madeleine Mccann have travelled to Bulgaria in the hope of tracing a woman they believe could provide critical information about her disappearance.

The woman, who was described as “wearing purple”, was in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz at the time the three-year-old was abducted in May 2007, but vanished shortly afterwards.

It is understood she was married to a convicted paedophile who has since died. The couple were believed to have been working as cleaners in the area.

Scotland Yard’s Operation Grange officers hope to track down the woman after reexamining statements that were given at the time.
