Majority of MPS back ban on abortion protesters
More than half of MPS support a plan to ban protesters outside abortion clinics, a poll suggests.
A survey of 101 parliamentarians found that 57 per cent supported Ealing council’s decision to introduce “buffer zones” to stop anti-abortion groups from protesting outside a clinic in the west London borough.
The authority is exploring how to prevent such demonstrations, including the use of Public Space Protection Orders.
Almost a quarter (24 per cent) of MPS said they opposed the decision, according to the poll carried out by Yougov on behalf of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS).
