Rehousing of Grenfell victims ‘must improve’

-

Efforts to rehouse victims of the Grenfell Tower fire have been “painfully slow”, the Communities Secretary has said.

Five months on from the tragedy, which it is believed killed around 80 people, the situation “must improve”, Sajid Javid said. MPS heard that out of the 204 households who lived in the tower and on Grenfell Walk, 26 were living in permanent homes at the end of last month, 122 have accepted an offer of either temporary or permanent accommodation and 46 are in a temporary home, according to Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Mr Javid said: “Almost five months after the fire, this must improve.”
