Two held on suspicion of murder after ‘thief ’ dies
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a suspected thief died while he was detained by the public.
Police were called to a driveway in Ashton-in-makerfield, Greater Manchester, at 3.15am yesterday after it was reported a man was being held for alleged thefts from vehicles.
The man, in his 20s, was found unresponsive when officers arrived at the scene minutes later and he was taken to hospital where he died.
Two men, aged 24 and 27, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in police custody.
Formal identification of the dead man has yet to take place.
