Fears blind pervert could use guide dog to lure children

 A blind pervert is to have his guide dog taken away by a charity amid fears he will use it to lure children.

Andrew Shaw, 44, was caught with more than 70 indecent images of children at his home in Blackpool, Preston Crown Court heard.

Police found 12 images deemed category A – the most serious – nine category B and 51 category C. They showed children between the ages of three and 12, some being sexually abused by adults and in distress.

Shaw, who has only a small amount of sight in just one eye, admitted three counts of possession of indecent photographs.

He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and must complete 60 days of rehabilitation activity and register as a sex offender for seven years.

A spokesman for the Guide Dogs charity said: “We are doing everything we can to gain repossession of the guide dog.”
