200-rocket firework puts man in coma
A single firework released 200 rockets in an arson attack that left a man in a coma and forced a woman to leap from a burning house, police said.
West Midlands Police said the firework was set off inside a property in Tile Cross, Birmingham, after the door was forced open.
A 56-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being rescued from the semi-detached house by fire crews on Thursday.
Giving details of the firework used in the attack, Det Ch Insp Sarah Burton, said: “It’s a multi-shot firework and could have had 200 shots. The whole house was set ablaze, causing extensive damage inside the property.”
Appealing for witnesses, police specifically want to talk to suppliers of 200-shot fireworks and anyone near the property who might have CCTV.
