Beyond the call of duty: MP’S assistant leaps to the rescue
AN MP’S assistant chased a man over fences and through back gardens after he had tossed a brick at his boss’s car.
Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell was campaigning in his Romford constituency when Kieron Nickles, 18, smashed his car window.
CCTV footage posted on Twitter by the MP showed Nickles stumbling over a wire fence pursued by Chris Muspratt, who vaulted it and caught him. Nickles escaped with the help of a friend in a passing car but was later arrested when police stopped them after Mr Muspratt took the car’s number.
Appearing before Barkingside magistrates’ court on Monday, Nickles admitted causing damage to the MP’S car, a garden fence and breaching his youth rehabilitation order. He was tagged and ordered to pay nearly £500 in damages and costs.
