Tripadvisor to flag up sex attack hotels

Tripadvisor is to display online warnings where sexual assaults have occurred.

A banner will alert tourists to hotels or resorts where attacks have occurred, and will recommend checking before booking.

The move comes after the travel website was accused of deleting posts about serious crime in Mexico. A woman fought for seven years to have her Tripadvisor post reinstated after she claimed she was raped at a Mexican resort and said Tripadvisor refused to post a review in which she described the incident.

Tripadvisor allegedly deleted her previous warnings on the basis that the reviews were not “family friendly”.
