Romanian king’s grandson ‘injures staff ’
THE British grandson of ex-king Michael of Romania has been reported to police after he allegedly injured a member of household staff while trying to see his gravely ill grandfather.
According to the former royal house, Nicholas Medforth-mills, the son of Princess Elena of Romania and a British university professor, was physically and verbally aggressive towards staff at the Swiss residence of the former king, who abdicated in 1947.
In 2015, Michael stripped Mr Medforth-mills of the title of prince due to apparent concerns over his behaviour.
Princess Elena accused her son of disregarding “the privacy, suffering and dignity” of her 96-year-old father.
Mr Medforth-mills wrote on Facebook: “It saddens me deeply and I do not understand the aggression shown by the royal household in their efforts to do everything possible to prevent me from seeing my grandfather. I will not take part in this ‘dirty game’.”
