Sheep that know faces in wide open spaces
sir – I am grateful that, like sheep (report, November 8), I can still recognise faces. If only I could recall names as well.

sir – I can confirm that sheep do recognise faces. When I feed my flock in the winter, they gleefully bound up to me from afar.
When Andy from the abattoir arrives in April, they are nowhere to be seen.
