Evangelical quits ‘heretical’ Church body
A prominent Church of England evangelical has quit one of its most senior bodies claiming that its stance on sexuality is “heretical”.
Lorna Ashworth left the Archbishops’ Council, an executive committee, in protest at a “revisionist agenda”. In recent months the Church has made moves to accommodate gay couples and transgender people.
Mrs Ashworth said: “In light of this revisionist agenda and the heretical teaching that comes with it, I am no longer willing to sit around the table, pretending we ... are having legitimate conversations about mission.”
