Stop trying to beat doors train passengers warned

-

Rail safety bosses have urged passengers to stop trying to get on to trains when the doors are closing, after figures showed most people would try to jump on when the alarm sounded.

Seven out of 10 travellers would try to board a train despite the door alarm sounding and more than half (57 per cent) would attempt to board before the doors start to close, the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) found.

Several passengers have been injured after being trapped in doors in recent years. The rail industry is examining how to increase awareness of the issue.
