Apple store raided by moped-riding gang

-

♦ A flagship Apple store was attacked by a gang of hammer-wielding thieves on mopeds who fled with iphones, ipads and watches.

Up to 10 suspects are believed to have smashed their way into the store on Regent Street, in central London, while at least three scooters waited on the pavement.

One security guard was threatened with a hammer during the raid, which happened at 12.45am yesterday.

Miah Mohammad Sheful, 28, who shot a 44-second clip of the attack as he waited for a bus, said it took the suspects several attempts to break through the door.

Passing cars sounded their horns as they realised a burglary was unfolding in front of them, the digital marketer said, but within seconds the moped riders had fled.

The suspects, described as wearing dark clothing, are said to have made off northbound along Regent Street.

It comes a month after a thieves riding mopeds attacked a Mappin & Webb shop in the same street.
