REBEL MESSAGES.

-

At 2.35 yesterday afternoon the Press Bureau issued the text of two messages “transmitted through the wireless stations of the Russian Government” received by the Admiralty per the Wireless Press. The first of these reads as follows: Yesterday, after bitter fighting near Tsarskoe Selo, the revolutionary army completely defeated the counter-revolutionary forces of Kerenski and Korniloff. In the name of the Revolutionary Government I order opposition to all enemies of revolutionary democracy, and the taking of all measures necessary to effect the capture of Kerenski. I also forbid similar adventures, which are endangering the success of the revolution, and the triumph of the revolutionary army. (Signed) MOURAVIEFF, Col., Commander-inchief of the Forces acting against Kerenski. The other message, which is couched in suspiciously flamboyant terms, states: History will record the night of Nov. 12. The attempt of Kerenski to move counter-revolutionary forces against the capital of the Revolution has received a decisive reply. Kerenski is retiring, and we are taking the offensive. The soldiers, sailors, and workmen of Petrograd know how to impose, and will impose, with arms in their hands, their will and the power of democracy. The bourgeoisie has endeavoured to separate the army from the revolution. Kerenski has attempted to break it by the violence of Cossackdom. Both efforts have failed. The whole country will see that the authority of the Soviets is not a passing phase, but is an unchangeable fact, denoting the supremacy of the workmen, soldiers, and peasants. The opposition to Kerenski is opposition to the landlords, the bourgeois, and the Korniloffs. The opposition to Kerenski is also the affirmation of the people’s right to peace, a free life, the land, bread, and power. (Signed) TROTSKY (in the name of the People’s Commissaries).
