Girl, 14, ar­rested over al­leged ter­ror­ist plot

A teenage girl, thought to be Bri­tain’s youngest fe­male ter­ror sus­pect, has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of as­sist­ing ter­ror­ism.

The un­named 14-year-old was last night in po­lice cus­tody af­ter be­ing held at an ad­dress in south London.

The ar­rest is un­der­stood to be linked to an al­leged Is­lamist plot to carry out a ter­ror­ist at­tack in the cap­i­tal.

A spokesman for Scot­land Yard said the girl had been held on sus­pi­cion of as­sist­ing a per­son to carry out an act of ter­ror­ism, con­trary to sec­tion 5 of the Ter­ror­ism Act 2006.

De­tec­tives from The Met said they were con­tin­u­ing their in­quiries.
