Greggs ‘sorry’ for sausage roll nativity
Greggs has apologised after replacing Jesus with a sausage roll in a nativity advertisement.
The bakery chain was widely criticised for promoting its advent calendar with an image of three wise men watching a sausage roll in a manger.
The Rev Mark Edwards, of Tyne & Wear, said it showed “a total disregard and disrespect of one of the greatest stories ever told”.
Simon Richards tweeted a call for a boycott of Greggs, while another user wrote: “Only #Christianity could be mocked in this way.”
Greggs said it was “sorry to have caused any offence”.
