Fake parking tickets are work of a local vigilante, say police

-

 Police have launched an investigation into a vigilante “traffic warden” who has been sticking fake parking tickets to car windows.

The home-made notes are believed to be the work of a local resident unhappy at drivers parking on the pavement of Rawsons Way in Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

Six separate fake tickets were found stuck to cars on Saturday evening. The fake ticket threatens the car owners with police action unless they “refrain from parking on the footpath” as it is an offence to “wilfully obstruct home owners from entering and exiting their driveways”.

Sergeant Christopher Whitehead, of Hornsea police, said: “We are aware of these notices being put on to cars in the Rawsons Way area and can confirm that they have not been issued by the local policing team. It looks like a local resident has taken the matter into their own hands and we would ask for that resident to contact us so that we can discuss their concerns.”
