Gallantry awards for catching killer of Jo Cox

Two police officers who tackled the killer of Jo Cox as he tried to get away have been awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for bravery by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Pcs Craig Nicholls and Jonathan Wright apprehende­d Thomas Mair moments after he stabbed and shot the Labour MP in Birstall, West Yorkshire, in June 2016. The officers spotted Mair about a mile from the scene and followed him into a cul-de-sac to apprehend Mair, who was armed.
