Council bans sculpture ‘to prevent car crashes’
An artist has been told to stop displaying his giant horse sculpture on roundabouts over fears it will cause crashes.
The 10ft sculpture, which is on wheels, has been placed on roundabouts around Norwich by artist Damian O’connor.
But now Norfolk county council has warned him his artwork is an “obstruction”. It has banned it from “highway land” and threatened enforcement action against him.
Mr O’connor disputes the claims and says drivers “rarely crash into Nelson’s Column or the Arc de Triomphe”, which are also on roundabouts.
