Submarine with 44 crew missing

Argentina’s navy says it has lost contact with a submarine off the country’s southern coast.

The ARA San Juan, a diesel-electric vessel with a crew of 44, has been missing since Wednesday.

A major search has been launched, but spokesman Enrique Balbi said there had been no indication of problems from the submarine and it could not yet be termed lost.
