Maduro opponent flees house arrest

Antonio Ledezma, the mayor of Caracas, a key opponent of Nicolás Maduro, the president, has arrived in Colombia after he escaped from house arrest in the Venezuelan capital.

“It is time to step aside and allow a transitional government, so that Maduro cannot continue torturing the people of Venezuela,” he said. “Maduro is starving the people of Venezuela.”
