Adonis: Bath University head must quit over pay
Lord Adonis, the former education minister, has called for the vicechancellor of Bath University to step down after it was revealed that she received a pay rise despite government criticism over excessive pay.
Dame Glynis Breakwell was awarded a salary increase of £17,500 in 2016-17 by Bath’s remuneration committee, taking her wages and benefits from £451,000 to £468,000.
She is the highest paid vicechancellor in the UK. It comes despite Lord Adonis logging a formal complaint with the Higher Education Funding Council of England, in which he called for an inquiry.
