- Sir Douglas Wass

A service of thanksgivi­ng for the life of Sir Douglas Wass was held on Saturday in The Lady Chapel, Westminste­r Abbey. The Very Rev Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminste­r, officiated.

The orders and decoration­s of Sir Douglas were borne by his grandchild­ren, accompanie­d by a Flag Party, and presented to the Dean at the Altar.

Mrs Sasha Hall, QC (daughter), and Mr Andrew Wass (son) read the lessons. Miss Harriet Hall (granddaugh­ter), read Because I Could Not Stop for Death by Emily Dickinson and Sir Tim Lankester paid tribute to Sir Douglas.

The Rev Jennifer Petersen, Minor Canon and Chaplain, led prayers, assisted by Mr Adam Hall, Mr Charlie Wass and Mr Geordie Wass (grandsons). Among those present were:
