Paedophile and victim share cell 35 years later

A paedophile was brought to justice 35 years after abusing a six-year-old boy, when he found himself in the same prison cell as his victim.

Gary Mottershead, now 50, raped and molested the boy when he was his 15-year-old babysitter. He had never faced justice, until his victim recognised him in prison in 2015.

Mottershead, from Sale, Greater Manchester, was convicted by a jury at Minshull Street Crown Court of one count of rape and six counts of sexual assault on a male under the age of 13. He was jailed for six years.
