Zimbabwe’s future

SIR – Even with Robert Mugabe gone, nothing much will change in Zimbabwe, irrespective of who ultimately comes to power.

Fraud and corruption are endemic throughout the political classes of that country. A very different kind of revolution will need to take place before Zimbabwe’s potential can be fulfilled.

SIR – Robert Mugabe’s departure merely represents a transition from one chief to another within the ruling cabal of Shona ex-insurgents that has dominated Zimbabwe since its inception.

Once the eyes of the media turn elsewhere, the Zanu-pf party will reassert its grip on Zimbabwe and the street celebrations will be over.
