Céline Dion has found her ‘happy’ age
All hail Céline Dion, who is officially the fourth highest earning woman in music, according to Forbes magazine. Apparently she’s made $42 million (£32 million) this year, putting her behind Beyoncé but ahead of Katy Perry.
It’s a remarkable feat for a 49-year-old singer who once seemed to be the living epitome of naffness, a singer inextricably linked with the Titanic theme song, to floor-length sequinned gowns and dramatic performative fist pumps.
But Dion has only got better as she’s got older, finding her happy age in her late forties. She has a lucrative residency in Las Vegas, a show that has included Prince and Rick Rubin, the legendary hiphop producer, in its audience, and has also reinvented herself as a cutting-edge fashion muse by hiring a hot new stylist and being invited to the Met Gala (she wore a leather cutaway Versace gown and ended the evening eating a hot dog from a street vendor).
All of this, and she’s a year shy of 50. Céline Dion is my hero.
