SIR – We are told that Britain’s economy could thrive after Brexit by becoming part of the global economy.

This is unlikely to happen if we continue to embrace tokenism by insisting that British passports be printed in Britain, rather than awarding the contract on a commercial basis (“Why passports could have a foreign flavour”, report, November 22).

SIR – You report (November 21) that the Eurotunnel has changed its name to Getlink as part of an “Anglo-saxon” rebranding exercise ahead of Brexit.

Eurotunnel means something, whereas Getlink does not. Furthermore, as soon as there is a significant service problem, customers will take to social media to complain with hashtags such as #Getstuffed, #Getknotted or #Getlost.

One of these is bound to stick.
