Cumberbatch irks neighbours with ‘outsized’ shed plan
Benedict Cumberbatch has upset his neighbours after applying for planning permission to build a large shed in his back garden, it has emerged.
The 41-year-old star of Sherlock bought a five-bed Victorian villa in Dartmouth Park in Camden, north London, for £2.7million in April 2015 but is yet to move in.
Plans submitted to Camden council on the actor’s behalf by Doyle Town Planning & Urban Design state that his proposed shed is 20.5ft wide, 8ft deep and just under 10ft high – covering an area of 18 sq yards.
The plans have been opposed by the Dartmouth Park Conservation Area Advisory Committee, who say the structure is “too big” to be called a “shed”. A spokesman said: “It protrudes above the boundary wall.”
Michael Doyle, from Doyle Town Planning & Urban Design, said he was not able to comment on the plans.
