Chocolate Orange prices leave a nasty aftertaste
Christmas stockings may be more expensive this year, as the cost of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange has almost doubled in some supermarkets.
Sainsbury’s is charging £1.95 for the Christmas favourite compared with £1 this time last year.
Across the board, the average price is £1.34, a 36.2 per cent increase on a year ago, according to the trade journal The Grocer.
The study also found that Morrisons had the cheapest chocolate oranges of the big six supermarkets, at 90p.
