London’s ‘most wanted burglar’ is Pole sent home in 2015

- By Harry Yorke

A POLISH man considered “London’s most wanted burglar” was deported in 2015, but has since returned to the UK without being detected, officers admitted yesterday.

Police are urging members of the public not to approach Krystof Brzezinski, 31, a career criminal linked to a series of raids.

Despite being deported two years ago, investigators have confirmed that he has returned to Britain under European freedom of movement rules, and is back in his former crime patch.

Brzezinski is linked to eight burglaries carried out in recent weeks in a small area of south London, where he was convicted and jailed for a string of similar offences. He is notorious for “smash and grab” raids on cars, in which he smashes rear windows before taking possessions and the vehicle if the keys are accessible.

He was recently caught on CCTV during a burglary in Addiscombe, near Croydon, in which he was filmed calmly walking away from the property moments after carrying out an offence.

Investigating officers found a bag containing a gun and ammunition close to the property, which they believe Brzezinski may have discarded.

Det Insp Dan O’sullivan, of Croydon CID, said anyone who recognises him should dial 999 immediately.

“Brzezinski is a prolific burglar linked to large number of burglaries across Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon,” he said. “He typically strikes during the day, between 4pm and 6pm, by smashing rear windows.

“I suspect he is committing up to two burglaries every day. He is London’s most wanted burglar and a oneman crime wave. He should not be in this country and I need the public’s help to catch him quickly.”
