Victoria has a funny way of dressing for dinner
Oh, she’s a hoot, isn’t she, that Victoria Beckham? Doesn’t take herself too seriously. And sooo down to earth.
I get that this is the accepted thinking on VB, but when it comes to “hilarious” Instagram posts – such as the one the designer put out of herself yesterday dressed as a Thanksgiving turkey – the belly laughs always seem to be sorely lacking.
It’s partly that I can never find any woman that scared to look unattractive amusing, but also that whenever I’m shown a snap of Victoria posing in her own kitchen but fully done-up to within an inch of her life, I can’t help but think about the Selfie Swat team – the stylist, the make-up artist, the lighting and set directors – that she must have on call, as well as the virtual trash can overflowing with rejected images, and the infuriated friends and family members standing there whining: “Get off your phone!”
And, yes, I realise that the high-maintenance thing is part of her shtick. But when you hit a certain level of self-consciousness and premeditation, it sort of kills the gag.
