SIR – It occurs to me that taking “selfies” with celebrities in 2017 is the modern equivalent of asking celebrities (and others) for their autographs back in the Fifties.

I still treasure my autograph album from my school days, which includes the following gem: “What! Write in a book, where others look – Not I, too shy, I’m off. Goodbye!” Jill Forrest
