Five killed in crash were all in stolen car
Three children and two men who died in a horror crash in a suburban street were all travelling in the same stolen car when it hit a tree, say police.
Police had previously been uncertain about whether any of the victims had been pedestrians. Det Chief Insp Jim Griffiths described the scene in the Meanwood area of Leeds on Saturday night as “catastrophic”.
Brothers Ellis and Elliott Thornton, aged 12 and 14, died along with 15-yearold Darnell Harte, Anthoney Armour, 24, and Robbie Meerun, also 24.
It is believed there were six people in the car. The sixth – a 15-year-old boy – was arrested and remains in police custody.
