Criminal talks himself into jail sentence
♦ A criminal landed himself with a 10-month prison sentence after he misunderstood a judge’s comments.
Christopher Stokes, 30, ended up behind bars after telling Recorder Timothy Rose he was “a little bit ignorant”, at Gloucester Crown Court.
Stokes, of Gloucester, was set to avoid jail for sending abusive messages to his ex-partner when he lost his temper as the judge asked his solicitor where he would live if he was freed.
The judge activated an eight-month suspended sentence for hitting a shop worker after being caught shoplifting, adding two months for the messages.
