Church-approved wedding for Prince Harry and his divorced fiancée
SIR – In 1955 Princess Margaret declared she was “mindful of the Church’s teachings that Christian marriage is indissoluble” in her reasoning for not marrying a divorcee.
In 2017, it seems the Church is more mindful of reality in welcoming Prince Harry’s doing so. Daniel R Edwards

SIR – I wish Prince Harry well, but every time a royal occasion arises, I feel a disorientating sense of bewilderment. These people are very rich. Centuries ago their relatives were warlords who founded the nation. Is that enough to justify the public’s glassy-eyed obsession?
We once believed kings were appointed by God. Nobody believes that now, yet the supernatural aura somehow hangs on. The monarchy is lucrative and pretty, but is there more to it than that? If anyone could explain this I would be genuinely interested. James Dixon
