New inquest into Deepcut soldier’s death
The family of a young soldier who died at Deepcut Barracks have won a High Court action for a fresh inquest.
Pte Geoff Gray, 17, of Hackney, east London, was found with two gunshot wounds to his head on Sept 17 2001.
A coroner recorded an open verdict following an inquest in March 2002. But after Jeremy Wright, the Attorney General, said he was satisfied fresh evidence had come to light, judges granted an application for a new inquest at the High Court yesterday.
Pte Gray was one of four young soldiers to die of gunshot wounds at the barracks between 1995 and 2002.
