Zimbabwe’s amnesty for return of public money
Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe’s new president, has announced a three-month amnesty window for the return of public funds illegally stashed abroad by both individuals and companies.
Mr Mnangagwa said the government would arrest and prosecute those who fail to comply with the February deadline. Since being sworn in as president on Friday, Mr Mnangagwa has promised to tackle corruption. He is expected to announce a cabinet soon, and said that his government would be “leaner” than that of his predecessor.
