‘Look after elderly’ amid snow and ice warnings

Snow and ice warnings have been issued across the country as Public Health England urges people to look after elderly neighbours.

Temperatures were set to drop to 14F (-10C) in some parts of the UK last night, in what was expected to be the coldest evening of the year.

The Met Office predicts there will be up to eight inches of snow in North Yorkshire and Scotland tonight.

A yellow ice and snow warning was issued across Scotland, east Midlands, east of England, north east England and Yorkshire.
