All he wants for Christmas? George plumps for a police car

- By Hannah Furness

AS the future king, he could no doubt have as many gifts as his heart desires for Christmas. But Prince George, four, has revealed he only wants one thing: a police car.

A Christmas list written by the Prince, who started school in September, has been hand-delivered to Father Christmas by his father, the Duke of Cambridge, during a visit to a market in Finland.

The endearing note, written in pencil, was presented by the Duke, who pulled it from his suit jacket pocket and handed it over, saying: “I’ve seen you and I had to give you this letter.”

He added, laughing: “He hasn’t written down many requests, so I think one request is probably OK.”

Where the printed note said “Dear Father Christmas this year I have been naughty/nice”, Prince George had circled “nice”. Underneath, where there were five spaces to make requests for presents, he wrote in large script “police car”. He also signed his name. His proud father pointed to this son’s selfassessment and pleaded his case, saying “he’s been a nice boy, a nice boy”.

Last year, the Duke disclosed that Prince George had attempted to open his presents before the big day.

This year will be the last spent as a family-of-four for the Cambridges, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined by a baby brother or sister in May. They have previously been reported to use special mockvintage “Santa Sacks” from Selfridges, bought by the Duchess last year.

The young Prince and Princess are no strangers to presents, with their parents receiving gifts on many visits. In his first year, he was given about 700 from overseas tours alone.
