Man held over ‘murder’ at care home

♦ Police launched a murder investigation after a woman resident in her 90s died at a care home in Essex.

Staff at the Forest Place Nursing Home in Buckhurst Hill raised the alarm at lunchtime on Wednesday, after they discovered the pensioner had suffered serious injuries. She was declared dead at the scene.

A 32-year-old man, believed to be related to the victim, was arrested and was being questioned on suspicion of murder.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation. We can confirm the victim and suspect were known to each other.”
