‘For every beautiful woman, there’s a guy who is bored of…” Bored of what? If you don’t know how the saying ends, google it. It’s base and it’s crude and it’s absolutely true.

But is it “depressing” for the reasons the Twittersphere would have us believe?

The reaction – male and female – to rapper Jay-z’s admission of infidelity, published in The New York Times, seemed to be a unanimous cry of: “Why would you cheat on a woman as gorgeous as Beyoncé?”

Because the ugly ones deserve to be doublecrossed, lied to and humiliated?

Or because we’re all convinced that the beautiful and famous are immune to life’s torments?

I was half expecting Jay-z to come out with the usual “but she was so busy with her career!” line.

But no. Apparently, the infidelity was down to issues from his childhood – again, not something that has ever historically got a single woman off the hook.
