The great divide US to side with Israel over Jerusalem

Donald Trump looks likely to announce that the US will recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday in a move that upends 50 years of US Middle East policy and is likely to hit relations with the Palestinians and America’s Arab allies.

The city is home to the al-aqsa mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, but Israel considers it its “eternal and undivided capital”.
