Record high for foreign direct investment in UK

Net foreign direct investment into the UK soared to £145.6bn in 2016 from £25.3bn in 2015, hitting a record high. The Office for National Statistics said the increase came primarily from an increase in equity capital which was up more than 400pc year on year to £133.8bn. The ONS said a “handful of highvalue M&A deals in 2016” were behind this.
