Teenage rapist turned in by his parents, court told

-

A teenage rapist who nearly killed a woman with a paving slab was only caught after his parents turned him in to the police, a court has heard.

Leicester Crown Court was told the 17-year-old dragged his victim into undergrowth and raped her.

The boy has admitted causing grievous bodily harm, two counts of rape, and stealing the victim’s handbag, but denies attempting to murder her in Victoria Park, Leicester, on July 3. The defendant, who had been drinking, was linked by DNA after his parents contacted the police following a media appeal, the jury was told. The case continues.
