Hands-on presenting
SIR – Leonard Capp (Letters, December 2), who complains about gesticulating television interviewers, has perhaps not noticed how choreographed some presenters’ hand and arm movements are. It is clear that they are trained to express their meaning with what they consider to be appropriate movements.
Mr Capp will notice that quite often a reporter’s presentation is followed by a piece of video with their voiceover. Ironically, it is easier to understand the disembodied voice without all the distracting movements. J C L Sharp
