SIR – Leonard Capp (Letters, December 2), who complains about gesticulat­ing television interviewe­rs, has perhaps not noticed how choreograp­hed some presenters’ hand and arm movements are. It is clear that they are trained to express their meaning with what they consider to be appropriat­e movements.

Mr Capp will notice that quite often a reporter’s presentati­on is followed by a piece of video with their voiceover. Ironically, it is easier to understand the disembodie­d voice without all the distractin­g movements. J C L Sharp
